Why was this site started?
Jonathan Goldsmith, formerly of the Chicago office (Transaction Advisory Group - Mergers and Acquisitions), realized that there was a strong need to keep the network intact that Andersen was well known for. He visualized a place on the internet where former Andersen employees could remain in contact with each other. When employees of the firm began to leave as a result of Andersen ceasing its operations in the Spring and Summer of 2002, Goldsmith took this vision and created this site. Also, because there were thousands of people who would soon be looking for new employment opportunities, Goldsmith created sections on the website where members could search for new jobs, post their resumes, communicate within a discussion forum, and view offers of discounted products and services from leading companies across the United States. Is this site affiliated with Arthur Andersen? This is a third-party site and is not affiliated in any way with Arthur Andersen LLP. When was this site started? Although first started in March of 2002, the official launch date was during the first week of May 2002. Why should I join? This website will allow you to: All of the services offered above are absolutely FREE! Other sites charge their members for the same features and benefits that we offer. Can you give me another reason why I should join? Many of us that have left Andersen have indeed kept in touch with our close friends from Andersen. However, as with anything else in life, it is extremely difficult and almost impossible to keep in touch with a large group of people that were considered colleagues and merely "acquaintances". We are all too busy to make several phone calls or keep track of numerous email addresses to hear what others are doing. By joining this site, you don't need to have anyone's' phone number or email address. Our site will allow you to reach them. Ok, fine, the first two reasons for joining are good, but is there anything else I should know about why I should join? This website can be a very powerful networking tool for your new business, company, career or employer. What better way to increase your networking contacts than with an Andersen alum just like yourself? Many of our members who are now operating their own businesses have promoted their businesses on this site (through banners or email newsletters) to the more than 9,000 registered members that we have. Also, if you are looking to find someone in a specific industry, at a specific company, with similar interests, or who has expertise in a particular subject, etc., you can use AndersenAlumni.Net to accomplish this. How many members do you have, and where are members from? As of January 2006, we have more than 9,000 registered members, and new members are joining each day. Our members are from more than 55 countries, with approximately 90% of the members from the USA. How do we plan on growing? With the help of the resources and contacts we have, we will be continuously looking to add new members. And we have no better resource than YOU. Please refer your ex-colleagues to our site. Is there anything I can do to help with the site? Thank you for asking. Yes, you certainly can. To contribute, please click on "Support AndersenAlumni.Net". We really appreciate anything you can contribute! What if I don't want other people to see my email address and other personal information? Your email address will NOT be posted on the site and the only way a member can contact you is by the following: Your name, city and state will appear. If another member sees your name and wants to contact you, they will click on your name. AndersenAlumni.Net will send you an email indicating that that person wants to contact you. The email we send you will have their email address. That is when AndersenAlumni.Net is no longer involved in the communication process. If you wish to contact them, you must do so between your personal email address and their personal email address. If you don't wish to contact them, nothing happens. They don't get an email saying you don't wish to contact them. You have the option to be excluded from the "Contact A Member" section of the site. If your profile is NOT public and you have NOT created an online resume for employers and recruiters to view, your personal information (name, address, phone number, email, etc.) will not be available to any other AndersenAlumni.Net members.
